Welded Banner Hems

Stronger, Wind Resistant Banners: Welded Banner Hems for Added Strength

The outside of banners normally takes the most stress.  This is true whether the materials are standard full color exterior banners, street banners that requires pole pockets or mesh banners that are against a window or chain link fence.  It is critical, therefore, that the sides or hems of  banners be reinforced. These are known as welded banner hems.

Until recently the only options were taping the outsides of the banners or sewing with thread.  The problems with both techniques is that thread and tape degrade over time.

The preferred method is where banners are heat sealed to themselves.  Research has shown that this “welding” technique is much stronger.  For an even stronger hanging system, couple this with rope, grommets or aerial wire.

Graphic Impact has this technology in-house and the good news is that there is no extra cost.
